Well..........
If that is so...Thats very bad! Sehwag does not deserve to be in team, we have got a proper substitute for sehawag, that is Robin Uthappa, this is a destraous news! This is a petty politics of cricket board as they are being pressurised by Sehawag's sponsers! If such things go on how can we even dream to win World cup?

I think Sehwag should have been given another chance. He deserves it. If he doesn't perform well, just drop him. And you can't judge Uthappa by just two innings. Who knows if he can handle the pressure of the World Cup or not. And if Sehwag somehow, regains his form, he along with Sachin will be India's Trump Cards.

Yeah i think this is a good decision on the part on the Indian selectors....
I think every Capable player deserves a go before the final 15 are selected for the big event in march
I guess it is just that sehwag is given a chance as he is a very explosive batsman and can win matches single handedly
In the past also he has proven his importamce as a match winner and also as a partnership breaker So he has been given a chance
Also shreesanth needs to get control over his bowling as pitches in west inidies are not all pacy wickets so he needs to learn some other tricks too

obviously that should happen. sreshanth didnt do very well in the last matches. sewag should be given another chance as he is a math winning batsman

deepthi i too am from kerala. the reason why sreeshanth is not included in the first match is that he probably needs a rest.

I think its the best combination that we could have had. Sreesanth is yet to adjust to White ball and indian pitches, he cant control swinging white ball - which has a lot of swing in the initial overs as compared to red balls used in the test matches... also the pressure would catch hold of him -
I surely think Ramesh powar could have been given a chance - but even for him we did not have any replacements so i guess this is the best speculated team for india if it fires
Sehwag needs to score big time atleast a blazing 50 odd or so just to get his form back, Uthappa is a big competitor for his spot

Hey Sid!!
Sehwag will bat at No. 4 or 5 according to Vengsarkar and I think its a goos position for him seeing that on current form, he is unable to face the new ball. And Sreesanth is in the squad. I made a serious type for the header.

But you have added sreesanth in the list?? And the title says he is not there? Or is it simply that, sri is left out of the final eleven for the first match? In that case it is ok, I think, But munaf patel is not that good, I think.

Whoopsie!!!! I made a mistake. Sorry!! I meant Powar, not Sreesanth.
Munaf is a lethargic cricketer but he can be quite unpredictable. When in form, he is an awesome bowler.

Hi nishanth, by choosing sehwag just within a month from the world cup, the selectors have again proved to all of us that they are spineless to take a bold decision. For a moment, just imagine what this'll do to the morale of someone like uthappa, who has utilised his chances well to cement odi opening with ganguly? And if sehwag performs reasonably well in about 1 or 2 matches and fails in others, what will the selectors conclude about his form? Confusing for all. And dropping a consistently performing bowler like romesh powar, challenging the batsmen with his guile and flight, is the height of stupidity. He had time and again proved to be an attacking bowler with fantastic odi record. Let me be permitted to say that he is better than kumble in odi bowling. He should have been in the playing 11 as a bowler in all the matches of this series and the world cup. Can anybody forget how he and balaji whacked shoaib akthar in pakistan couple of years ago? They literally would have won the match but for balaji's getting out. But more than cricket, the politics that surrounds it is more entertaining, as had happened this time also.

Vengsarkar has already stated that Sehwag will not open the innings. He will bat at either 4 or 5. So Uthappa's place is somewhat cemented. And I don't feel the same about Powar. I don't think he is better than Kumble and I am not talking about his batting.
