When will india become a superpower ?

I think we already are a superpower. We just lack in believing it ourselves. We are among the fastest growing economies and can sustain that growth for a long period of time. We just need to change our mindset.

surely witin the end of our generation.

I am not sure about Superpower status. but yes India can certainly become a developed country by 2020 if our economy continues to grow rapidly, all sectors of economy do well like agriculture and business continue to do well. Then with growing affulence of middle class, more jobs for people like in IT, BPO sectors, with more indian companies becoming global players. With providing for energy security, doing well in nuclear, space fronts we surely can become develped country. but we will also have tackle infrastructure problems like create more roads, posts, provide clean water, electricity, provide education for all, tackle corruption, cut redtapism, control population then surely we can become developed country.

india has all the abilities to become a superpower. but a single deficiency (dirty politics) dominates these abilities and stops us from becoming a superpower. if all our Netas (leaders), scientists, and even we join hands fogetting our cheap self interests then nothing can stop us. as you say 'right from my grandad to me all have been readin...' is right, but if you dont want your children and after them their children too not read this any more, then promise to yourself that you will put some serious effort to make india become superpower. also influence others' ideas. this is what we can try at our level atleast.thank you.

May be that should not be our goal. If you see the history of all super powers and they way they behave and attack other countries for some imaginory weapons and continue to extend their war on all other countries, I am not so excited about India becoming asuper power and like one of them. India is the only country that has such rich heritage and that never invaded another country till now.

First India should become free from terrorism and corruption.A lot of our country's energy is spent in these areas.Next is Indian population.India should pose a curb on population growth.Only if we Indians wipe all the illness of our society ,we can dream of becoming a super power.I think it will take a next 100 years for us to become the super power.
