Beauty and the beast

My grandmother, God rest her, told me something when I was a teenager in the late 1950's ,early 1960's, something I passed on to my daughter and my grandchildren and when he is old enough if I am still around to my wonderful great grandson. You can take the prettiest woman in the world and if she acts ugly, she can be the ugliest woman in the world. And you can take an ugly woman and if she acts beautiful, she will be the most beautiful in the world. In other words beauty is as beauty does. To me, my answer to your question is that in that person's eyes the person they are talking to is beautiful. Unless the person who say it is just trying to get something from the other one. In which case, shame on them.

This is a good topic. You can't base what you look like on someone elses opionion. People think differently, and people like different looks as well. Beauty lies in your heart, what's on the inside, instead of the outside. what everyone really sees.

When people express their opinions on someone else's beauty right on the face, then it means something to the person he is commenting on. Whether it is mockery or flattery he has to take it. This is totally the choice of the commentor on how he feels and depends on his personal taste, likes-dislikes and habits. THe listener should know how to take it. One has a right to express his feelings on beauty of an individual, as it is to give out an answer on this, so that whoever he is telling knows what he feels about him. Its only a step towards awareness, and mocking comments should not be taken seriously, but should be taken as a way to know oneself.

I cannot answer that question because not all people are true to their opinions and compliments....sometimes they praise others just to flatter them...

the saying beauty is in the eye of the beholder is sooooo right man......trust me on dat...for example...i might say that um...this gurl looks really nice 2 me..and u would say..naah..she aint...so which means that each person has their own idea of beauty..but more often than not many people look very beautiful on the outside..but are horrible people inside...wereas there are many people who dont look beautiful at all..but their character would be fantastic and so much better...sooooooo.....it just goes to show man...never judge a book by its cover...of course im not sayin that there are no beautiful people who also have nice characters but still......the perfect match is very hard to find....trust me on that...ive looked.....hehe....

I have always had a problem with my weight, its in my blood from my dad's side of the family. So I have never really been too skinny since I was like 12 yrs old when I began to get to the teen years and gain the weight that is where it is now. Mind you I'm NOT that big but I'm not super skinny. So this has made my self esteem lower. However in high school I knew at least at different times 4 different guys had crushes on me. Someone told me, or I guessed. Either way it made me feel SO great to have someone like me. Why did they like me? Cause its true! Beauty IS In the Eye of The Beholder. There is that great song I used to love "she's just my style everything about her drives me wild" because in that song the guy says "other guys see her they dont even look her way, maybe its the clothes she wears or the way she does her hair makes me want to tell her that I care." Why? I made that song how anyone who liked me liked me. I felt not many guys did like me, and the song reminded me that sometimes people will find me attractive when not many will. So to tell someone they are beautiful, cute, attractive and they might not think so others might, I do NOT believe that would be an insult but a good thing. You might make their day and defently help to raise their self esteem! :)) cheers!

I would not call myself ugly, but I would not beautiful either. I am more average, in physical appearence, mentally, I am pretty damn smart, ask me anything about the X-Men or comic books and I may have the answers you seek.

Like what you said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some are beautiful but they are shy to admit it because they lack self confidence. Some are not so pretty but with the way they carry themselves in public, they can stand out. Beuty is just a matter of how well you carry yourself and your personality towards dealing with other people in your everyday life.

Purely subjective. When someone is telling you that, you simply can see the truth in their eyes. Their mouth is capable of lying but the eyes aren't.

I believe beauty is also in the eyes of the beholder. Some may be more attractive than other, but more often than not, its what inside them that makes them beautiful. If they have a great heart and soul that only adds to the beauty, and it radiates from within them!

i dont believe that there is such thing as ugly person. you have to love yourself first before you love others. if you have a good heart and treating others right i can say that you are a beautiful person.

A lot of people don't realize how attractive they are until people tell them. With some, if people never tell them, they never know it themselves. It's sad. :( Sadly, also, I was one of those people. Plus I thought it was vain to consider myself attractive. It truth, it's just confidence.

Beauty of the person does not depends on their nature. Real beauty stand ups on their mind. So dont describe the beauty as body colour.

we do have different perceptions and taste. sometimes, beautiful to us might not be beautiful to others. and vice versa. I believe that beauty depends on the person how can she carry herself and what attitude she have. that aspect is what our basis on judging things that are beautiful.

Hard to say. I Will say your alright or yeah your cute.. but not beautiful if your not. If someone ask me are they beautiful or gorgeous, than I would have to be honest and say there are different degrees of beauty. Their eyes or nose or lips may be beautiful or their body but the whole package might not. So I would have to go ahead and tell the truth.. and let them know that not everybody has the whole package. So I'll just tell you what it is about that person that is beautiful to me.

What is beauty? external beauty or internal beauty ? Its totally depand on the eyes of te beholder, In my opinion, many more have chance one beautiful things with her.

It is the choice of a person some person loon tell beauty according toeyes & some according to colour ,etc.

LOL. Too funny. I think it would depend on the people in question. My husband tells me I am beautiful...I am not. I don't think he is mocking me, I think, in his eyes, I am. I think that saying is very true, it is the only explanation for the gorgeous man with the very ugly wife and vice versa. Personal Preference. I like lilies, you like roses, kind of thing.
