what would happen if our planet "the earth" stop rotating or stop revolving???

I am always been perplexed by a thought which infact has almost had persecuted me. The thought is something like this-"what would happen if EARTH stops rotating or revolving rather???"
Will we still be alive?
Will we still take oxygen, as a source of air into our body, naturally?
Or are we going to die as soon as it stops?
I challenge people that there would not be any answer which would answer this fully.

the earth will not have day and night. nor will there be any seasons. one side which is facing sun will be havimg only day and the other side will be having only night. i dont think that anything will happen to the atmosphere. and i cant think of anything else.
