The 2006 re-issues of the Classic Trilogy on DVD...love them or hate them?

As most of us Star Wars fans know, the Classic Trilogy was released on DVD in September of 2004. Essentially the 1997 Special Edition re-issues with a few controversial tweaks (Hayden Christensen replacing Sebastian Shaw in the Jedi Spirits sequence), they sold very well but were panned because some fans also wanted the original versions of the movies. Further angering fans was George Lucas' comment that he was not going to release the older versions because the 2004 editions were definitive and reflected his vision for the films. But, as the old saying goes, Money Talks, BS Walks, and in 2006 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment released the Limited Edition 2-disk sets, with both versions in one DVD case. (Was there a box set? I don't know!) Do any of you have the 2006 re-issues of the DVDs? Do you like being able to watch the original, pre-1997 versions? Which version do you prefer? (Note: One-line replies such as "No, I don't have these" or "I like them" will not get positive ratings. Sorry, but I would like insightful replies.)

I'm so old school. The only Star Wars movies I own are the original VHS boxed set that was released after Return of the Jedi was released on tape. I'm just sick and tired of Lucas stringing along fans and making all these statements and acting like he's way too big for his britches. I'll probably get the DVD set of both at some point, if I find it cheap on Ebay. But I won't buy it brand new.

I'm pretty old school as far as liking the old versions of the Classic Trilogy as they were seen by this guy at age 14 in the fall of 1977, but I'm also too much of a fan to not want to see the films on DVD. I've never met George Lucas myself, but one of my friends is a friend of the guy who married one of the Lucas' kids nannies or caregivers or whatever the term is nowadays (au pair, maybe). My pal, Geno, was invited to Danny's wedding in Marin County, and the reception was at Skywalker Ranch, where Lucas himself gave everyone a personal tour and a "sworn to secrecy" look at Episode I, which was still being made at the time. Obviously, such a short exposure to the guy could be deceiving, but according to Geno, Lucas is painfully shy in person and very unassuming. (Maybe what gives him the "too big for his britches" rep is the fact that he is fiercely protective of his vision for Star Wars...) I hope, though, that you do find those DVDs you seek on eBay. Make sure they are the Limited Edition 2-disk sets so you can get both versions, though.
