I rejoined Weight Watchers after 9 years -- any other weight watchers out there

I love weight watchers plan and how you eat real food. I couldn't do the program if I had to buy meals from the company. I think buying meals from the company would only hurt me later on as when you stop buying the meals you wouldn't know how to eat right to keep the weight off. I am hoping there are other weight watchers out there that would like to share tips, recipes, things that work don't work for you. I did weight watchers 9 years ago and really liked the program then too. It is definately time for me to get back on the program after 1 miscarriage, a 2 yr old and 4 years of home daycare. I really should have watched my eating more especially with the daycare. I believe eating all the quick toddler meals helped with a lot of my weight gain.

Yes, I'm a WW follower. I've joined several times in the past, and have recently joined again. I've been there for about 3 weeks now. I think it's a great program, you don't have to buy anything special. Good Luck to you!!

Yes i am a weight watcher and it is a very good plan to be on,its not really a diet, its a new way of eating. It is healthy and you eat real food and I love it.I have been a weight watcher for going on 2 years now...My husband recently was diagnosed with diabetes and when we went to see what diet he needed to be on the lady said it was sort of like weight watchers...I told her I was a weightwatcher and she said that they highly recommended the weight watchers for any one with diabetes...I do the points system and you get to eat and I am never hungry..

I did Weight Watchers for a little while prior to my wedding. Then I got married, got pregnant and had my 1st child all within a year so there wasn't much room for anything else. I know am part of a program called First Place (www.firstplace.org) that is similiar to Weight Watchers except you count exchanges (based on the Diabetic Assoc. guidelines) and it is Christ-based.

I am doing Weight Watchers. I joined a year ago and have lost 75 lbs. It surely is a great program, don't think it can get any better, you can eat what you want as long as it is in moderation and you don't feel like you are starving. Since joining I have never felt better and I haven't been getting as sick as I once did before joining. It has helped me in so many ways I could probably write a book about it..lol Good luck with your weight loss.

My best friend is on some type of weight watchers and it is amazing how well she has done on it . Her pressure was going up really high and it was causing health problems and just for her self esteem she decided she was really going to try . She still has some weight to lose but she looks unbelieveably good . I am so proud of her for her effort and thinks she proved to herself and everyone else that she can do something if she sets her mind to it . I am not sure how she was doing it but she could eat pretty much anything she wanted , it went on a point system where she was only allowed so many points a day so she knew that if she ate something that was sweet it was going to take up a lot of her points for the day . She also started walking . I am sorry to hear about your miscarriage , but I know you can do this if you want to . You just have to believe in yourself . Good Luck !!

The problem with any weight loss plan is that we need the willpower to stick with it. Once you fall off the plan, you need to get quickly back to it or you are doomed. I have done the Six Week plan with Curves with great success, until I stopped monitoring my meals. The plans focuses on portion size, carbs, fats, calories. I read labels now. You would be surprised at what you'd think is good for you is actually packed with sodium, fat, or carbs. You will always find someone that has been successful on one diet and others who are not. Finding one that works for you is a difficult task. Huggers to you.

1. Drink water Water is quite possibly the single most important catalyst in losing weight and keeping it off longer term. Water acts as an appetite suppressant by keeping your stomach full and fending off dehydration which can lead to false cravings/hunger. Water also helps your body metabolize stored fat by helping the kidneys flush out waste. When you don't drink enough water the liver which works to provide stored fat for energy helps the kidneys eliminate waste and becomes less effective at metabolizing fat. Drinking water ice cold burns about 62 calories a day. Your body has to work to raise that waters temperature to your body's temperature. This equals around 430 calories per week. 2. Eat regularly This means eating 5 times a day and the most important meal is breakfast. Make sure you fuel your body first thing in the morning to avoid hunger pangs later in the day. When you eat 5 times a day you will never feel hungry, make sure the total calories consumed are sensible and don't over eat in any of the meals learn portion size control! 3. Eat lots of fibre Eating adequate fiber foods to help keep things moving through your bowel. And like water, fiber rich foods bulk you up and make you feel fuller for longer. Fibre is found only in plant foods our bodies cant digest it to so it simply goes through the body. During the elimination process it cuts calories consumed by attaching to protein and fat that you eat along with it removes that as well In addition, high fiber foods are typically low in calories and filling, so you are reducing your calorie intake overall. Good fibre foods include: strawberries, apples, figs, chickpeas, potatoes, (with skins) broccoli, brown rice, beans, bran and nuts. 4. Consume more good fats There are good fats and bad fats Good fats provide you with essential fatty acids (linoleic and linolenic acids) needed for normal reproduction and growth, as well as for production of prostoglandin, a hormone like compound that regulates blood pressure, prevents blood clotting and lowers the risk of heart disease. For example, the reason oily fish is a great food stems from the fact that the essential fatty acids which it contains can actually help your body burn fat more efficiently and protect against disease. Get at least three portions of oily fish a week with Salmon, mackerel, herrings and sardines being good choices. 5. Get plenty of quality protein Quality protein is an effective weight control tool because of the satiety factor and its ability to keep you full for longer periods. It also balances out carbohydrates by preventing insulin spikes that cause energy loss and sugar cravings Protein helps to maintain muscle mass which is important in the fat burning process. Good choices include: Fish, shrimps, Low fat cottage cheese, low fat yogurt, skimmed milk, egg whites, s Weight gain is caused by consuming too many calories, whether they are from carbohydrate, protein or fat. 6. Carbohydrates can help you lose weight Don't believe what you read about carbohydrates being bad for you, they can actually help you lose weight! A diet containing good carbohydrates such fruits and vegetables, wholegrains and moderate in fat and calories, will result in weight loss Good carbohydrates will also help you combat hunger pangs as they are slowly realized into the body. When eating carbohydrates eat them "from the earth" with no refining or processing. These include whole grains, vegetables; fruits and beans. Sensible weight loss If you have read the above you will see that it is not the food group, but the quality of the food in it that's important for fast weight loss.

Hi I have been over weight for as long as I can remember until recently I didnt really mind (well thats what I told myself) In may 2005 I decided to go it alone. I cut my meal portions down started to do light exercise etc well within the first 7 months I lost 6 stone!!! Its now nearly 2 years since I started, and I have lost 10 stone. Dont get me wrong I do have the odd slip esp over Christmas when I put on over a stone. I've had the help of my mum who I drag out every night to walk the dog even in the freezing cold lol. I have found myself changing but its not so much the feeling lighter and more energetic its the confidence! Thing is theres only soo much you can loose before your body just comes to a hault. So I have actually stuck to my new years resolution this year by joining a gym. I go to curves which is a gym for ladies and its great. Only 5 more stone to loose lol. Good luck to you in weight watchers I've not been able to follow that way but each to their own :-) I know how hard it is so believe in yourself and just stick with it

I've done weight watchers in the past. I really think it's a wonderful program. Are you going to do the online program or go to meetings? When I tried it before, I did it online, as it's hard for me find someone to watch my son. I lost a few pounds on it, but gave up because I was eating the wrong kinds of foods (purely my fault). I am interested in trying it again sometime in the future. It will depend upon my dr's advice and our money situation at that time.

We have one meeting in town LOL -- small town living. I did go to the meeting and joined. Right now there is no registration fee. The cheapest cost for meeting right now is $39.95 a month so about $10.00 a week. Otherwise it is $13.00 a meeting. So you could join for free right now and pay $13.00 for the meeting and learn the new stuff. Without any other cost if you are confident to stay the course without meetings. I think I am going to go for about 4 weeks to learn about new things in the program and getting back into the habit "they say it takes 28 days to make a habit". Then I will just do it at home. Hubby is doing it too (his first time). He is pretty excited and we are making our weekly menu together too. I have to have a menu so it is easy to stay on program. I have a ton of recipes I used before and have been searching the web for more yummy sounding recipes with points. When I was pregnant 3 yrs ago I didn't rejoin weight watchers but did the program the whole pregnancy so I wouldn't get any heavier. I only gained 15 pounds the whole pregnancy and it was pretty easy for me. I think my problem started after I had Kirsten I was doing the home daycare and eating chicken nuggets, mac and cheese and all the high fat stuff.

My mom was on Weight Watchers before, a long time ago. I also followed WW guidelines, about 5 years ago. An acquantaince of mine was a meeting host for WW and she got me the first booklet, the points calculator, and a few recipes. I did it religiously from august to february of the following year, and lost 50 lbs. I felt so good, and everyone was noticing and complimenting me. Since then, i've met my now husband, and gained everything back and plus. I don't seem to have any self motivation left in me!! I wanted to join again, but unfortunately, we do not have money for that. I know, we should, since it's for my health and well being, but tell that to the phone or electricity company when we omit to pay their bills! I wish all of you guys luck in your weight loss, hoping one day i can be part of this bunch again!

My sister and my mother did weight watchers a lot of years ago. I think it's better then going with the precooked meals from the companies. Weight Watchers teaches you how to eat right, so you can lose weight and keep it off. I don't think I could deal with the meetings though, being weighed in front of others does seem a bit embarassing.

I didn't have time to go to the meetings, so I joined the Online version. I love the recording of what you eat each day. It really helps me to see what I am actually eating. And to control my eating. All recipes are great too. I have lost about 20 lbs. in about 6 months. Have about 10 more to lose. Good luck.
