Audiobooks, anyone? Where do you get yours?

Anyone out there listen to audiobooks? I like listening to audiobooks on CD in the car sometimes. It's a nice change from the radio. Where do you get yours? I have a hard time finding unabridged books on tape. I want the whole story, not just chunks of it! Unbridged books are terribly expensive to buy, so where do you go? There is a local rental place here I use sometimes, but their memberships aren't cheap...any other ideas? Thanks!

I love audio books and always have one going in my car. Right now, I am listening to "White Out" by Ken Follett. I also prefer the unabridged. To be honest with you, I buy all of mine on ebay. I do a search for "audio books, unabridged" and then chose what I want from there. It is much cheaper that way. I donate most of them to the local library when I am finished with them. There are some that I enjoy so much that I keep them knowing that I will listen to them again. It is nice to hear that someone else loves audio books! I have not run into someone, other than my husband, who also enjoys them.

Thanks for replying. I never thought of checking ebay. I love to read, which is quicker than listening, but sometimes actually hearing the story aloud gives it a whole different feel. I find audiobooks make the time behind the wheel past much more quickly....especially when stuck in traffic!

I also love to read and it is so sad to see that it is becoming a lost art. I cannot imagine being without a book! I read from 1 to 5 books a week...depending how much time I have to spend and how good a book. Often, I lose track of time and end up reading until 5 am!

Yes, I've done this as well! Often, I've had people say...I don't know how you can read at night, it puts me to sleep. My response is always 'you must not be reading the right books.' I've never had a book put me to sleep, but I've stayed up way too late on countless nights reading 'just one more chapter.'

I used to rent from OnTheGoBooks.com and totally loved their service. They had a wide selection and the price wasn't bad. I'm considering going for it again.
I tried TalkingBookWorld.com too for buying educational audiobooks, but last I checked they are out of business. I need to find someplace like that again with educational audiobooks as I don't read my school books generally.

I listen to audio books often. Unabridged and abridged. "Sound Books" - Melbourne - Victoria - Australia. I just don't have their phone number on hand at the minute, but if you cannot find them, let me know and I will get the full details. You should be able to get in touch with them with just this info. Best of luck.

I'm getting mine from my own shop (check out my profile for the URL of the shop - we also have an affiliate program). Over 6000 titles to chose from. As I love audio books, running the site is like work and hobby all at the same time.
