What did Jesus mean???

John Chapter 14: a certain man asked Jesus : Show us god and Jesus said : "If u hve seen me, U hve seen GOD" my Christian friend said: see Jesus claimed the be GOD, Jesus said if u hve seen me u hve seen GOD... all I asked him is ...If this is crystal clear then can u explain me what did Jesus mean at John Chapter 5 where another man came to Jesus and asked show us GOD and Jesus said: "U have never seen GOD, U have never heard his voice" Is this mean the man who is posing question to Jesus have never seen Jesus??? and my Christian friend has this to say.. hey! don't read that verse.. only care this John Chapter 14...is this the way to read and believe?

it just means that jesus is there doing Gods work for him so hence...if you see me you see God..they have not actually "seen" God by by jesus being there they have seen his works.

absolutely right my friend, yes Jesus saying in simple terms that the closest you are going to see in GOD are the WORKs you see me doing... but the masses understand that in John chapter 14 .. Jesus claimed Divinity.
