Should organ donors be paid?

I just read an article on Wired News discussing whether or not donors should be paid, either in money or at least in lifetime medical care to compensate for the possibility of needing medical care as a result of the donation in the future. I personally wonder if such an option should be explored, if only to provide people with a better option than the illegal harvesting of organs that sometimes happens now. Also, there may end up being more organs available then, because some would be willing to donate an organ for financial gain. What is your opinion on the subject? I admit I haven't really researched it indepth, so I would appreciate your comments, both for and against.
