I did the Adkins a few years ago and it worked great! In three months, or less, I lost 60 pounds!! Over a summer I looked like a diffrent person and felt like one to. That was a while ago and since I stopped the diet and gain it all back. The reason was, it tells you not to do this for awhile, but make it a life style change. I didn't listen and now I am paying the price. Once again I am starting the diet, this time for good.

I have never tried a commercial diet. We do have some South Beach Diet meals around the house, but that is because I really like them, not because i am on that diet plan *laugh*
I really do fully believe that the best way to lose weight is not to diet, but to change one's lifestyle. That is what I did a few years ago. Certain changes in my body were causing me to need to cut down on the amount of sugar that i was partaking of, anyway, which caused me to start eating differently, and I realized just how much junk I had been eating. I changed my eating habits dramatically, and watched my calories closely for about a half a year to a year, and I also started doing some exercise.
I still haven't lost as much weight as i would like, but I am no longer really overweight like I used to be for the majority of my life. I lost a good 60-70 pounds, and I have kept most of it off. I find that I can be comfortable and eat a fair amount and so far at least have not started to get heavier again. So.. I really do think that changing your lifestyle and the way that you eat permanently, and working on getting some exercise into your life, helps more than any diet plan can.

I don't think any diet has ever really worked for me .. my lifestyle is so sedentary these days that I simply don't burn off enough calories in my normal day .. exercise is pretty much impossible due to the damage it causes my muscles .. so it's simply down to eating less and less ... but I can't continue to eat minimal amounts for long as I soo start to get bad side effects ..
The best, but worst, diet or weight loss I have ever had was when I simply had liquids for a month .. soups, fruit juices, anything liquid but it's not good for you and I certainly won't recommend it ..

The best diet I have found and is successful is the Chargoans' Not-What-You-Think Diet! I made it up after trying unsuccessfully to lose weight with other diets! The problem for me was my mindset and willpower! In order for any diet to work and last, you have to adopt new eating style. My problem is that I sometimes fall off the wagon, and cant get back on!
So I devised this way to "diet". Four years ago, I had a complete physical to be warned by my doctor that my BMI was too high! I was approximately 60 lbs overweight. All the falling off the different wagons had caused me to gain most of it. I normally carry 10 to 20 lbs of extra weight.
Anyway, I was adamant that I was going to make the necessary changes and I was going to stick with it! SO I researched online, at the library, I spoke with a nutritionist. In one month, I lost 25 lbs! I continued eating the same way, and continued losing weight, though not as fast as the first 25. I suppose it took me about 6 weeks to lose another 10 lbs, but I wasn't gaining!
This is what I do: I envision the plate halved. The bottom part of the plate I fill up with fruits and veggies (no potatoes, though!), making sure to fill up the bottom half. Then the top half is halved and in one half I place my lean meat. THe remaining half is my starch. (potatoes, bread, rice, etc). Then to satisfy my sweet tooth, I will enjoy whatever sweet there is. It is no bigger than a Quadrant of my plate, unless a dessert plate is offered!
Hope this helps

before we have a grocery store where i am tasked to sell. when i see alot of foods, temptation comes to me.. so i eat inside the grocery.. that's why i became fat
when my parents sold our grocery store, i loose weight. :)
oh well, i think temptations can gain weight. lol.
now, i would like to try to eat tuna and half rice for a week. My friend told me that this is true, he read it in a magazine and advice me to do this. He told me that I can loose 10 pounds a week. :)
Im not trying it yet, because i dont have many tunas here in our house. lol. Now, i only eat fruits and juice.
