how to build a well proportioned chopper bicycle..

hey ppl,listen up..i need some help on how to build a chopper bicycle..i have already made one using parts from an old cycle i had.. wat i want to know is, 1)how do u check for the straightness of the frame after its made from scratch? since it wasnt a very sophisticated workshop that i got this made from,could check it only by sight.. 2)wat is the easiest way to extend an already existing fork witout losing out on the strength issue? 3)wat all measurements should i take for building the frame? i mean,there leg length from the hip to the heel and then theres the reach length which is the length of ur arm..is there anything else??
