I started being a vegitarian when I was 12 it hasd nothing to do with animal rights at the time! It was a protest to my mum's meatloaf that I thought looked gross! Mum had said 'YOu wil stay at the table till you eat it' and I responded "I'm not eating it CAUSE I'm a vegitarian!" But it stuck. I stopped all red meat at first, then white like chicken and fish. But I had a big gap in what to eat??
I had the usual meat and 3 veg served up at dinner minus the meat... I got pretty anemic until I learned to balance my protiens and get some iron.
Now at 26 it comes as second nature, The idea of eating somthing that was once alive makes me feel sick.
I think vegitarinism becomes stronger the longer you do it. For me it is a life choice. has anyone had trouble committing to it?

I was a vegetarian for about... five years. I did it for health reasons, and i cut out all red meat and most white meat other than fish. But then I just sort of got tired of it and went back to eating meat. I was managing my diet well and could allow for meat without any adverse effects. It just wasn't for me, I enjoy meat far too much.

I think the body is not designed to have a whole lot of red meat, but by the same token, it is not designed to have vegetarian food only.
A mix of white meat, red meat, fish, etc., along with the vegetables is what we should be having.
