I fell sorry for Jakarta people who get the flood.
and I hate all the Indonesian Goverment. Why this thing happen again ? It's been since 1976.
And the worst of all, why everything always centred in Jakarta ? Speedy Internet Connection is down because of the flood. International phone call can't be done. And everything else. Why they're so dumb ?
What do you feel about our goverment regarding to this Great Flood ?

Hey,you shouldn't always blame on the government when things like these happen, you know.
Even the government is trying its best to prevent these stuffs to happen, since it can cause huge problems on economic activities. In the meantime, rather than blaming the government, how about if we discuss some solutions?
I think that'd better for all of us :)

Yes, you are right Neo_Knights.
Again, there probably solutions that they could take, since this flood is not only today's issue. It's been going on since years.
Bare in mind, the project you are mentioning cost money or funding.
And as I said again before, despite the stubborness of some fellow Indonesians of mine, the government also has their fault in being 'corrupt'. (this is also a sad case, where I hope after all the disasters, perhabs we could all realize that we need to be focus not only thinking of minority such as ourselves, but also majority of Indonesian people in Indonesia).

Hei, man you're Indonesian. Government already has solutions, but they just don't do it right away.
OK, here's solutions from me. Maybe government should finish the Western Canal of Jakarta, which started 5 years ago, and just finish 7 km of 27 km. Or, hey, maybe government should not sell the green area of the city to investors.

I was a bit confused as well, when I heard the news. But mind you, not only Indonesia can get flood. Even big country like England, also gets flood now and then (or in some part of the countries).
However, it is also true that we can not only blame the government of Indonesia when this things happened.
The citizens also needs to realize about environment. At least they could start from the small thing like don't litter anywhere, or don't build a house next to the flood area, etc.
The population are so dense in Jakarta, and the conscious about healthy living environtment are still poor, there. It's sad to say about this, but it's true.

I know that citizen's role is important too, but in Jakarta which the uneducated citizen is more than educated ones, government should do at least face to face environmental education. Not just by posters. Uneducated people needed reason not just campaign. If they don't know what the benefit or what cause them loss of something, the won't bother with any programs.
One other problem is, if according to the law, buildings on the side of the river is not permitted then why government did not act, they just leave them as it be.

Hi Neo_Knights,
You indeed have your points here. As far as I see, some people in the government did really try to show how they concerned about the environment by action. However, the mentality of some people, are just plainly stubborn. Been told not to litter so many times, still we find rubbish here and there in un appropriate areas.
Some people also being told not to build their home (for instance bedeng- bedeng, so what they called in Indonesia); still they built it again! They gave so many reasons that the government can not argue with them. Don't get me wrong here; I am not here trying to defend the government of Indonesia. lol
It's a sad case. And again it has something to do with stubborness.
Despite the fact, that there are lots of corruption going on in the government as well.
