wireless computer - signal booster

hi guys is there such a thing as a booster for a laptop computer with wireless internet ? would appreciate your input

Some wireless cards have an option to connect an external antenna, which would increase your overall signal strength, however, if your laptop came with built in wireless, there's most likely not much you can do, since most laptops that have it built in use an internal antenna, with no option to connect an external one.
