how can we download youtube video files

i didnt know you could download you tube video but it looks like the reply 1 of the posters made shows you you can. it would be very useful to be able to download the videos but i dont know if the users of youtube would like that as then their videos can be copied and changed still a lot of others must have done this before and thats the risk you take when you use you tube my space and others for videos
