I learned a lot of patience in handsewing. Each stich seems to be a good theraphy. A needle and a thread. I can sew a pajama pants or a sleeping dress. I prefer Handsewing. I also use a sewing machine. My projects were - a bedsheet, a pillow case. It is not difficult. This hobby can make your idle time an enjoyable experience. To finish a dress and to tell your friends that I had accomplish something. I feel great. No problem with pattern. I used my favorite dress and follow the pattern. I also buy books and sewing with ready pattern. Japanese Magazines offers free pattern.

i tried sewing...but i just got bored at third stitch itself...the thread always used to get mixed up...but i can say that it is enjoyable if we do with much patience...i think i lack that patience...

It's not about patience so much as determination. People say that I'm patient, but I'm really not! I'm just stubborn, and I set goals and steel myself to meet them. And I do. And I get such a sense of achievement from it!

hand sewing does teach alot of patience and i agree that the stitches are good therapy but sadly i have some slight arthritis in my hands so i cannot sew for long periods of time because my hands start hurting i love to sew my own clothes it really gives you a feeling of accomplishment but i hate it when i accidentally poke one of my fingers with the needle i am so clumsy it tends to happen alot haha i also can use a sewing maching but i do not have my own right now the good ones are just so expensive

I also enjoy hand sewing, though I especially like embroidery - creating a design on something that would be plain otherwise. I also really like cross stitch and creating a picture in thread, and seeing it come to life.
Making clothes is good too, you can wear it and know that you did all the work to make yourself look good!
