if they are in danger I would get them to somewhere safe until there is a way to show them without getting them more damage for example behind security glass.

you didn't say that you mean historical buildings too, in that case you would need many people good at restoring old buildings. but for small things like an egyptian grave (don't know the english word) that could be keept behind a security glass I think.

i think a good plan is to photograph everything, create a vertual reality display of it, then close it all away and leave the original in situe and alone. Certainly if we are going to preserve the heritage of our past then something like this is going to have to happen

If it being damaged by visitors can still be avoided then it need not be closed at all. This is where the work of the Government or whoever that is who is assigned to protecting the treasures of the place, will come in. They should implement rules and regulations that will ensure the protection and care to maintain the beauty of national treasures.. In fact if the property is not closed, one can collect a fee per visit which will be used to fund the programs to protect it.

traveling is not a cause of problems.. its an irresponsible traveler that does.
when visiting a place, people should know not to take things away from their proper place. Bringing home things that are not meant to be taken away from their natural setting only ravages our precious resources and heritage.

No not close the place down, it's important to share our cultural inheritance with each other. But maybe seal of sections of the ancient building, or limit the daily visitors.
