what means of 911 ?

well,when i see 911 prineted on banners,vehicle im really very confused that what should it mean,is this any emergency call if so then for which segment it calls,will someone guide me for this,but dont underestimate me that know nothing,sometimes it happenes.

it means that if you need the police, fire department, or ambulance in a hurry, just pick up any phone and dial 911...an operator will answer and send help...

When you call 911 - in the USA - you are calling the emergency services.
They will send you the service you need - police, fire or an ambulance.
In the UK we use the number 999 for exactly the same thing.

911 is the emergency number in the US. you can call them and tell them if there is an emergency like fire, theft or something like that.
