Want to buy vehicle with good mileage and some space

I'm looking for something like a very small SUV, maybe the size of a KIA Sportage. Mileage is important because I have a long commute to work. I need somthing I can fit a large dog crate in. I usually don't have more than one passenger (human passenger!) Is there anything like this in the $25,000 or less price range?

i think if that is what you are looking for in that price your best bet would be to look at the subaru baja it unless you need to have the crate in side the car then you need to look at a different car/truck but the baja is about 25000 new or you can find them used with low miles for cheap between 15000 to 20000 or even less

I really like the Kia Sportage, but I can't buy a foreign car and feel good about living in the USA. Not to mention, my boyfriend has worked at GM for thirty years!! Yikes!! I've been looking at the Saturn Vue's or the GMC Envoy's. Buying them used, you can get them under $25,000. I don't want to get into too high of a payment either, since I'm definately not compensated in my pay for the amount of work I do everyday @ work :)
