I am trying to get some stuff accepted and published through daytipper. Have you written anything for that site?

Unusualsuspect has it right. They either don't pay you for your tip or forget about you completely but daytipper is something of a bad news deal. Three dollars for a tip sounds nice but you have to be published on the front page for it to happen. With only six to eight tips being posted on the front page a day or so they won't get to yours in a long while. Try writing for Associated content and sticking with mylot. I'd trust these sites more than daytipper any day.

From what I've heard, they're either going out of business or just plain scamming. People aren't getting paid for their work. This is being discussed on other sites where people do get paid for their writing. I haven't bothered with them, so I'm just reporting what I've read.

I had not heard of this site, but I am always looking for outlets for my writing, so THANK YOU for drawing my attention to the possible scam nature of daytipper. I hope you get published somewhere where they do pay, and thank you again, for saving me from wasting my time there :-)

I think I write fairly decent. Well, I have submitted three seperate polished pieces to this site. Each time I was rejected. Now, as a writer I know this will happen. It makes me contemplate the validity of daytipper. I expected to be accepted and told that they did not wish to pay, but would add it. All I was forwarded was a form mail telling me that the pieces did not meet the criteria. Oh well, on to the next whiskey bar.

oh dear, the whiskey bar! It can't be that bad. I hope you find somewhere that is more appreciative of decent writing. There is less and less well writen stuff around, and part of this is because sites are dumbing down. Shame. Oh, and mine is a double!

I'm glad I found this discussion now. I was really hyped up about submitting tips there but now I guess it's just another site off my list. Well I guess it's good that I'm leaving that one with three dollars in my pocket at least.

Nathan, the guy that owns it, did a lot of bad things to it. He actually posted ALL of the tips that were submitted and scammed about 10,000 people out of their pay. When the people discovered this, which were the people submitting the most tips, he tried to cover it up and said it was nothing more than a code error that caused it. He claims that all tips will be displayed on the front page. Which means published and you'll be paid. However, if your tip was put up on the site, that means it was published and you should get paid. However, Nathan doesn't seem to work that way, he quickly removed all the tips that were submitted and published for pay, and is now telling everyone that things will work out, people will get paid, etc and in reality, no one is seeing anything.

To add to the list of legitimate websites to post articles for, try helium.com. They're a similar website like associated content but they give you many ideas for articles that I switch back and forth between them and AC.

How does Helium work? I've looked at their Web site and still can't figure out how you make money there. You write articles and get paid based on how other people rate them, is that it?

Thanks for the suggestion of Helium. I hadn't heard of them. I have written a few things for Associated Content and have been pretty happy with the results. But of course, always looking for new writing sites. You can also publish with Gather.com. You get paid in giftcards. It's like MyLot, but a more serious crowd. You get people to respond to what you write and can respond to others, but I find the topics on there pretty good, and there are a lot of writers on there too.

Daytipper is bad, really you need to stay away from them. Even if you get paid once, you more than likey won't get paid again. It's been months since I've submitted tips to them and I've not been paid nor published. So, really just avoid it.

I have three tips that have been accepted but haven't been published - which means I haven't gotten paid! It's been a couple of weeks since they were accepted...I would stay away from this site. If you look at the home page it says 4 or 5 thousand tips have been accepted but only a little over 1000 have been published and paid for.
