I don't know if this is true or not. But I've heard once that fish DO drown. How? They said that if you pull a fish BACKWARDS while holding its tail, water will enter its head thru its gills and drown. Do you believe so? Can a fish really drown? =/

Hi! Fish can and do drown. The reason is that they need oxygen like all living creatures, but not all fish process oxygen in the same way. Some are mouth-breathers, like bettas, and get oxygen through lungs. Others process oxygen out of the water through their gills. Regardless of the method, if oxygen is not available, the fish will drown.
BTW, some fish are perfectly capable of swimming backwards. :-)

Yeah! I've seen fish that can swim backwards. But I noticed most of them swim verrrry slowly. Maybe because they do not want water to enter their gills? =/

I haven't actually tried it.. But as the facts say, I think it is possible. Too much water in the head can kill any living creature.. =/

That's the last thing I'd want if I can choose how I die. I'd rather die in an explosion than drowning. You get to suffer every second of it before you die.. Terrible.

I hadn't ever heard of that before but I guess it could be possible. I always wandered why fish cannot swim backwards as well as they do forwards?

Actually, there are fish that can swim backwards. Maybe they have specialized gills. But most fish just swim forward. Geez. The mysterious of the aquztic realm.. =P
