I am nearly 59 years old. I am having a problem finding a job that I can actually live with and keep for more than say, 6 months, or even a year. I've applied to many jobs, taken tests, I'm learning how to use the computer an different software programs, I have a credible bit of knowledge on alot of things, yet, it seems it's the younger people who get the job. I do not drink, or smoke, I'm relatively intelligent and sane. Anyone else have this problem? Is it because of insurance reasons people won't hire us older folks. Are we just invisible? Are we not pretty enough? I do wonder what's really going on here. I've been online seeking ways to earn money that way, but it's disappointing as there are so many scams out there, or you have to spend money to make money. I don't have any money to spend like that. I don't have health insurance either. How many of you out there are in the same boat as me? Do people our age just fall between the cracks?

It is not fair but I think it is common practice. It is age discrimination for sure. You commented on my discussion about the pancake and waffle mix. I have posted recipes to use with it and I think you will fidn the recipe that the cook used that you were refering to at this link http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/735915.aspx?p=0

I have observed that here in my school. We have this good Logic and Philosophy of Man instructor who has been working for 28 years in the school. He even wrote some books that are exclusively released in our school. The sad reality is the younger teachers who is teaching the same subjects are discriminating him that he should just go home and watch tv. I wonder "How will these young teachers today feel if they reach that old age and the younger ones will be laughing behind their back quetsioning their capabilities?" I'm young compared to teh rest but I know how to give respect.

Yeah sir, i agree with you that people of your age its always tougher for you to get into jobs at this age. Instead try for doing some business, say like having shops of small size or anything else. Don't stick on age old jobs. Try having a different mindset
