Recently i had just read a classic book by Napoleon Hill, "Think and Grow Rich". I think some of us might had read it and some not even heard about it. In fact it's really a great book on how to achieve your goal in life. Most of us are dying to get rich but do not know the right way. Some of us had given up after failure and failures. Inside the book it told us about a story "Three feet away from Gold". It told about that failure always hit us before we are a step away from success. That's why 90% of people failed because they just stopped there, just 3 feet away from gold. Besides, it also tell us that, in order to achieve success or attain wealthiness, we need a burning desire. If we don't desire the richness, we will never get it. The desire will keep us going until we achieve. Besides, we need to define clearly what we could afford to sacrifice in order to achieve what we want, coz there is no such thing like "nothing for somethin" in this world.
What do you think? Do you have the burning desire to get rich?

Hello dear cheongyc. Thank you very much for this wonderful discussion of yours one year ago. I love it because of the sentence, "three feet away from gold". That is true indeed. If we do not have the burning desire and persistent determination, nothing will be realized. We need to not only have the burning desire for it, but also the necessary action for it before we can find the three-foot gold before us.
I used to have a very strong desire to make much more earnings that I could within my ability gained at college. I had had that desire for a few years before I finally made a decision that I must move to somewhere more developed in my country if I wanted to change my situation then. Finally I did and now I am very happy for my choice and decision. Years of time has proved that I am right to do so.
It is just the burning desire that keeps me going on and on. But compared with others, I still have a long way to go. Life seems to be a never-ending effort for us if we want to create a better life. Thank you so much for it.

Hi williamjisir my dear friend. That's right, this book facinates me when I read it one year ago. But I was still plagued by my bad habit of giving things up halfway. Because I haven't finished it until now. May be my burning desire was not triggered yet to finish it LoL. Even I haven't finish it yet, but I had learned a lot from the portion that I had read. It's the 'burning desire' that drive us to complete and achieve goals in our life. I am glad that you possess such great determination in improving your life. I need to learn from you as well to strive for better life. Thanks for your response my friend.

Well, when I was younger (I guess most people do, too), I would always dream of being a millionaire. Now, at 39, I have not given up on the possibility but I'm not as passionate anymore about it. I would like to share with you my own experience. When I was 19, we were very rich. It's a rag-to-riches kind of thing. My stepdad is a politician. Money was never an issue (we had lots of them!) and we just used it excessively. Later on, my stepdad lost the elections and the tides turned. From then on, I learned the value of money. I fear that if I get too rich, I would forget myself. We hear these stories all the time and it happened to me. My dad lost his friends. His relatives even turned against him. You're right, you sacrifice something. Money has this great power to change people. I guess that experience teaches the great lessons in life. So, if ever you become a millionaire, don't lose yourself!

Ya, you are absolutely right. We should not be slave to money and lost ourselves to it. But what the book preach is to encourage to think positively and never give up, throught proper way. It won't teach us to rob, steal or exploit other people. It's just to sharpen our mind and strengthen our will to help us to achieve the success. The prinsip is not only applicable for wealth pursue, but is useful to other goal in life as well.
No worry, people said, life starts at 40. You are on your way to enjoy the golden part of life. :)
