Did you know that Windows uses 20% of your bandwidth! Get It Back MS Windows uses 20% for their own purposes like updates and interrogating your machine os! How to get it back: Click Start then Choose Run then type "gpedit.msc", w/o " letters only. This open the group policy editor. Then Go To: Local Computer Policy ---Computer Configuration ---Administrative Templates ---Network --- QOS Packet Scheduler ---Limit Reservable Bandwidth. Double Click on the LIMIT RESERVABLE BANDWIDTH. It will say it is not configured, but the truth under the explain tab: "By default, the packet scheduler limits the system by 20% of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default." So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO "O". This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than default 20%. This will works on windows XP and 2000.. but wait before you do these, check your bandwidth/connection speed first.. you can try this link www.testmy.net or www.dslreport.com/stest. then run a speed test again after you've done tweaking your bandwidth..
