Do you know Xampp and EasyPHP. Both are packages that install an Apache Server, MySQL server, PHP, and are used to aid developing PHP applications (among other possible uses) to say the least. So I want to know if anyone here uses on of them and exchange information about them.

I don't use any of them because- EasyPhp contain an older version of apache php and mysql, XAMPP it's hard to use. Instead of those i use WAMP5 wich is more friendly, but XAMPP it's more professional(it have SSL and other things)

They are packages (for lack of a better world) that install on your windows (or linux, in the case of xammp) a apache server with php enabled and mysql (among other goodies) and are useful for developing php applications (among other things).

I'm using Xampp & WAMP (http://www.wampserver.com), both are very good. Wamp has better tray utility (to change configuration files, start/restart servers, switching php & apache modules/extensions.

XAMPP and EasyPHP has pretty much everything you need to get started with learning Apache, MySQL and PHP. But you should not stop here. Most scripts that are freely available may not work 100% on your server, so you will need to dig and grasp a deeper understanding of Apache MySQL and PHP.

I installed apache manually but I can't open localhost. When I try to access localhost in my browser it just keeps loading like forever. Please what could be wrong? Is there a problem with my port 80?

well, i don't know about EasyPHP, but i do use XAMPP. From my view, XAMPP bundle great package. PHP 4 and 5, and you can switch between them, MYSQL and phpmyadmin for administration. A lot of php modules. well basicly, i'm really happy with XAMPP
