Final Fantasy XII?

I was wondering what everyone thinks of FF12.... I've been thinking about buying it, but I've heard some weird things about the battle system, and also that the ending is bad? But I've also heard that the graphics are beautiful, that the plot is political and complex, and that the characters are well-developed and realistic. So I'm sort of at a loss, and wanted some more opinions.
(Of course, it's FF--I'll probably buy it no matter what! But I want to know whether I should be hopeful or cautious in approaching it.)

I never played Final Fantasy XI so XII was a huge change for me. The story is very different from the other ones, more political as others have said. Also, the music gets a new composer. The game is VERY WELL written, probably the most well written of the series. Even if it is a very good game, there is no strong moments that I will remember for years. The ending is good, not memorable.
Still, the characters gets you cheering for them as you march through the world Dalmasca and Ivalice. 9 out of 10 if you ask me.

I liked it just fine. Balthier is likeable enough and so is everyone else. The plot was okay too. The hunting/missions gave it some gameplay depth and they're fun since you can pick and choose what to do. However, it's not quite as memorable as other Final Fantasies and really Balthier and Fran are the only two that make it worthwhile. Not to say that the other characters are bad, but they simply don't have the same kind of appeal as the Sky Pirates.

Graphics are beautiful. Although it has a new battle system it takes time for me to get used to it. I'll need to wander around Estersand to get myself used to the system. After awhile I pretty used to it, you don't have to worry much...Gambits would prove useful for you. The world is huge compared to previous FF games. I have not seen the ending yet and I rather see the ending by myself compared to download ending movie off the internet, it would spoilt everything.
So far I'm just finishing scene at Lhusu Mines where we were chased by Ba'Gamman (not too sure if the spelling is right).
I'm happy with the game and looking forward to explore the world as well as increasing characters level.
You should be getting FF12, you won't regret it.

It's ok and I'm currently playing it but there are times I find myself bored. Its world is just overwhelmingly huge compared to previous FFs and yeah there are tons of sidequests.

MANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN I dont see how you can think for a second that FF12 would be a loss in anyway. Yes the battle system is new but it's also very interesting how the game works itself out. I found it very interesting how they put mini video scenes so that you can see more movie scenes. However there are still CGI clips in the game which make it still amazing. The story is rich just like every other final fantasy...ofcourse i dont include FF11 as a final fantasy game because there are no main plots.

i give it 10 out of 10 !!
graphix are beautiful,levels are big,great characters and voice actors.
and it's not to easy wich is a + point,challenging = good!!

i got ffXII for christmas but i have yet to play it much. world of warcraft has been occupying my time.but anyway. the graphics are greeeat. the characters are great as well. i have heard nothing but great news about it. if i was you, i would buy it. for sure.

Final Fantasy 12 is a good enough game. Its battle system has more movement unlike the battle system in Final Fantasy X-2. There's gambits which are like instruction so the 3 people in your party can auto attack the enemies you encounter. The plot is complex but if you pay attention you can follow it. Graphics are not bad. Theres parts in the game where it is PS2 graphics then it changes to a cinematic movie.( Very well done movies might I add ) All in all, its a good game to buy.
