Thanks....Sunny scored 13 hundreds against the ferocious west indian attack and was consistent through out ...sachins record against the Proteas and Australians is just average if you forget the 148 in Perth and couple of hundreds against SA ...he seems more of a one day wonder...thanks for your response

I agree with you on that Jinesh. But to term a player as best, only on field performance cannot be taken into account. As you are well aware, Gavaskar was autocratic and personally responsible for cutting short many promising cricketing careers in his time, even unnecessarily banning kapil for one match but for which kapil would have been the unique record holder for playing the longest number of international matches without a single break in his career. Certainly he is not a role model for children to emulate. But apart from his game, sachin has remained an impeccable gentleman in all the other aspects on and off the field, in other words, a complete cricketer for our children to emulate. That's why I name him as the best. Do you agree with me?

Sachin's record might very well be average against the South Africans but you're wrong about the Aussies bro.
TESTS against the Aussies
21 matches
1859 runs
53.11 average
7 Centuries
7 Half Centuries
ODIs against the Aussies
47 matches
2183 runs
46.44 average
7 Centuries
11 Half Centuries
20 wickets including a match winning 5 wicket haul.
You might say its Average. I say its excellent.
And why do you wanna take away his century (148*) at Sydney? He didn't make that century for you to filter it away from his record. Its because of these centuries only that the God of cricket has such a record.

Hey Jinesh!! Wassup buddy!!??
My pick has got to be Sachin Tendulkar. He is the only one who can be aggressive when he wants to be or defensive whenever the situation demands. His conduct on and off the field is simply exemplary. And of course, he is the only exclusive batsman to feature in great Shane Warne's nightmares.
If the injuries hadn't bothered him, he would have been far ahead of Ponting and Lara in terms of centuries. And even with those injuries, he is still miles ahead of the others in terms of ODI cricket.
