If anyone could help I could use some info. With Irish ancestors and a love of history I want to see some of the country. I will have my kids with me though and want to know of places that would be okay for them to visit with me as well. So if you have some ideas I'm open for all of them. Thank you in advance for your input!

I would check out some of the neat Castles they have, that is like a bed and breakfast. They have cool things like big meals like they did in the days of old. Also there are people who host families.Sort of take them under thier wings. So good luck!

Thank you for the information ladylily. I will check into that. I would love to spend a little time over there and get to know the country. Since I do my work online I can work from anywhere so it would be cool to take an extended vacation over there during the summer.

The National History Museum is very good. It has great Viking and Celt exhibits. The Natural History Museum has loads of cool taxonomy if the kids like that sort of thing. There is also Dublinia, which shows what life was like for earlyDubliners. All three are in Dublin.
Trim Castle is one of my favorites, and if you are going farther North, the W 5 Science Muesum in Belfast is brilliant. There is also the nearby Ulster Folk Museum and Transport Museum which I defy you not to like.
If you are around in the summer Kilkenny has a great Art and Music Festival. Naturally there is a ton of coastline and good beaches, and a favorite vacation spot of mine for unspoilt natural beauty is Cape Clear. Have fun!
