Both too! I enjoy horses for the enjoyment, because I love this sensation to make One with my horse, or to go outside to be in agreement with the nature.
But I love sensation of compete too, with the pressure, and the enjoy we have when we get a good place in a compete!
We can do the both in the same time, with compete like endurance.
In fact, I love all the faces of horses: compete, pleasure, and just take care of them...

I'm getting ready to start riding lessons in the summer. I've never been on a horse before! It should be an experience, that's for sure. I don't plan on buying a horse just yet, so I'll just be doing it for fun. I've always thought barrel racing and jumping looked fun - but I'm not sure when/if I'll do that.

Our family does both!! We love taking our horses out for trail rides and we also use them to round up cattle on a friend's ranch. They are also used in the local rodeos here. My husband is a team roper and I participate in barrels and pole bending and I am learning team roping. Our children will be getting into the rodeo scene in a few years as well, so we are looking forward to that.

I have horses for the pure enjoyment of it! I ride only for pleasure, but I often take my chilren and 2 or 3 horses to small local shows. One daughter shows English. One daughter does Western, and one shows either, depending on which horse she wants to ride. All of them do the games. I also have one daughter who does competetive trail and endurnace rides.

BOTH! I compete to enjoy myself ;) Although if I have to choose one, I would say enjoyment. I could live the rest of my life without ever entering another horse show and I would still feel satisfied.
