How do you Greet People?

Australia

How do you greet your friends and family when you see them? Is it a kiss and cuddle or maybe a shake of the hand? What about people you just meet? Im just wondering as Im a generaly shy person and usually nod and smile if i meet someone new, family and friends, we kiss on the cheek usually. Thanks for sharing.

whenever i meet my relatives especially my relatives who are older than me, i always try to give them a kiss. i also do the cheek to cheek thing to my few bestfriends. to others, i just give them a smile while saying hello and a little wave recornizing their presence.

With my family I will kiss and hug. With close friends, the same. To meet someone, I will say hi and smile. Maybe shake their hands. Different cultures play a good part into manners and greetings.

Family is way different from strangers. My family, we normally hug each other when we see each other. But that is only because we have not seen each other and the love is there instead of the annoyance. ha ha Even my uncle that I am not fond of, I will hug him hello or bye. But strangers....there is no way I will hug a stranger! LOL That is just too weird. I will smile, nod, or shake the person's hand. However, there are family members that are strangers, and they will get the same treatment as a stranger when greeted.

I only get to see my family every 2 years now that I moved to another country. So, I usually give them a big hug. My brother gets a little nervous but I do it anyway! Other than family, I usually just shake the person's hand.

I usually just say hi when I meet someone new as I tend to be rather shy too until I get to know you. I have a friend whom I've been best friends with since we were five. We don't get to see each other as often as I like as we live several hours away from each other. When I greet her, it's always with a hug! But we are very close. My other friends whom I see almost on a daily basis, we just say hi...I only hug them if they are needing comfort.

I have a certain wave that i do...to avoid hugging...i just don't want to hug everyone i come in contact with, i.e., strangers or pet owners that don't do any upkeep on their pets. If it's someone that i care about, and i know they care about me, i prefer to do a hug or a big handshake.

It depends on the person and the vibe I get from them. I never hug someone I just meet, only friends, and even among friends that is selective. I will kiss hello only my girl, even if it's just a peck. I tend to be a handshaker for most people I just meet.
