im kind of a shy guy, and i could use some advice

Try asking an opinion on something. Just walk up to a girl or a small group (2-4) and say "Hey, can I ask your opinion on _____?" And then say a minor problem, something personal. Do you think blue or green is a better color to paint my house? Would you rather watch Colbert or John Stewart? It doesn't really matter what you ask, girls love giving their opinions! (I know, I am one!;) ) But make sure you have a reason to ask, and something to talk about afterwards (Yeah, I'm going to be painting this weekend. I want to go see one of them and can't decide which). That should be an opener, a way to start a conversation. Don't ask the question, get the answer, and leave--if you don't follow up you've wasted an opening.
