Why is the Big Brothe TV show popular in some countries and isn't in others?
In Brazil the whole country is watching the "Big Brother 7" every night, and in Russia spectators lost interst already on the second one.

Very funny, in Eastern Europe, Russia was called "Big Brother" Big Brother Russia was watching what people were doing every day. Russian people remember communism and being watched 24/7 by Big Brother is not really funny. I admire Russian people as very talented and intelligent and I am not surprised. Reality shows are boring.

Even though I guess that low interest in Russia to the "Behind the glass project" (that's what it was called there) is not based on the previous communist experience.
I guess, there must be another reason.

because it is a crappy show, countries with poor programming like it... I hate it..

Well... Brazil is not Russia.
It has to do with culture and how much non-sense people are prepared to put up with.
Big Brother is non-sense. Total non-sense. And because it is mostly the teenagers who do all the voting... the final result always sucks.
The X-Factor is very popular in England... but it was a total disaster in its first season in Australia and was axed. We had been satured over the previous 12 months with American Idol and Australian Idol. A third show was just too much for the public. And we did not like the format either. It was very amateurish and cheap compared to Australian Idol.
Australian Idol has the same problem with the teenagers voting for the wrong contestants. It is the voting which put me off those shows as the contestants I really like always get voted out.

In our country in the Philippines. Pinoy Big Brother is very popular tv show. For me, this show's popularity depends on the housemates who are the main characters of the reality show.

who know but i love that show. can't wait for it to start again. my favorite was the first season but then i was working so much after that and missed 2 season's but i'm back into it now.
