Do you like to burn candles? :) Just curious since I decided to start burning some of my candles again. I haven't lit a candle in over a year, probably 2 years or more... Right now my votive candle is in the kitchen -- AWAY from my son! ;) I do have a candle hot plate thing that I've been using but I decided I wanted to burn candles again! :) Do you prefer wax candles? Or soy candles? Do you make your own candles? I prefer soy candles myself. I wish I could make my own candles... I am not that talented.

I absolutely love candles. They are warm and inviting. Especially in the evenings I turn out the lights and light them throughout my house. I love the scented candles the best. I also have never tried the soy candles, in fact have never even heard of them, kinda weird since I buy them all the time. I buy a few expensive candles and then a bunch of cheapies as I love the glow but can't afford to purchase nothing but the expensive kind. I stick with scents like vanilla, cinnamon, and pumpkin spice they are my favorites. Good luck to you here at mylot!

Hi...This is my first ever post, so I'm a little nervous, but as I LOVE candles I though I had to chime in. I hav erecently found out about soy candles and I like them a lot. They burn "cleaner" than regular wax candles...meaning they don't leave as much soot in the air. I live on a busy street so keeping my air clear is always a challange. Thanks!

I use to burn candles virtually every night. Absolutely loved the scented ones. If I wasn't burning candles I'd be doing oils in an oil burner (although they included a candle so I guess a candle all the time after all.) I know however, have a tropical fish tank without a wooden top in one room, which makes me a little uncomfortable to burn anything in there. On top of that 4 active cats who love to jump and climb virtually anywhere possible also makes me a little paranoid as well. I plan on starting to make candles soon actually. I've slowly been buying supplies every couple of weeks, and almost have everything I think I need. Can't wait to try my hand at it though. Plan to largely make them for presents.

Before my son was conceived/born, I used to burn candles all the time! :) I really forgot about them. But I am glad that I am starting again! ;)

We burn candles in our home. The only time we don't burn them is when the grandbabies are in the house. They are too tempted to touch them with their curious little fingers. I too would love to make my own candles. I am determined to give it a try. When I was in my teen years I made them a few times and they turned out very well.

I am burning my candles in another room from my son. :) I would never put him in danger. I also put them high up so he can reach them.

I have made some paraffin (wax) candles, but I have decided that I have crafting 'ADD'--by the time I get all the supplies and ideas for what I want to do and learn all about it, my attention flies off somewhere else. I use a candle warmer often. My daughter in law and son got me a really neat clay cut out votive holder that I use on the table. They also got me this AWESOME wrought iron rack that has eight votive cups on it. I filled it with candles, but have not burned it yet, as I still have too many flammables nearby. I love the fragrance though, from those eight votives all lined up and ready to go. I picked a spicy scent for the winter.

I love burning candles ! :) I burn them almost everyday I think, it makes the house smell so good. I haven't ever tried soy candles, I'll have to give them a try. Right now I have a "pumpkin pie" scented candle burning...makes me think I should go get some whipped cream LOL

I like burning candles! I have made some of my own before, but then I usually don't want to burn those ones since I spent the time to make them. lol I usually end up getting candles as gifts, so I burn those. I have always used wax candles, but I've actually never had a soy candle, so I'm not sure which I would like better. I guess I'll have to try out soy candles sometime to see what they're like.

I like candles but I don't burn them much. My husband is very sensitive to smell and it bothers his sinuses so I hardly ever do it - mostly if he's out of town or something. I have seen some candle kits that make it look not too terribly hard. If you are so interested, I encourage you to give it a shot!

Yankee Candles - I enjoy the smell of this Yankee Candle that I use in my living room at night. It is the Ocean Water scent and smells great and lasts a long time.
I enjoy the smell of scented candles myself and burn them quite a lot in the evenings while watching tv. I love the smells of the Yankee Candles as they have different scents to choose from. I have the Ocean Water scented candle right now. I also like it because it lasts a long time and longer than other candles. I have never tried making my own candles.

I love candles. I am just afraid that my cat will explore and burn off her whiskers. Candles smell so good and the flicker is so pretty. There are so many nice candle stores in the mall that sell the good candles. I just wish they didn't cost so much. I like the ones that totally liquefy. I have no idea what a soy candle is.

I like candles, but don't burn them often b/c I'd be the person that accidently knocks it over and sets the house on fire. So now we stick to a few (well placed) candles on holidays but otherwise I use most of mine for display purposes. I prefer candles that are in a container of some sort b/c there are less accidents that way. Otherwise, I like oil warmers too, where the candle is lit underneath a try that has a flavored oil or candle in it. Those always smell really good but we also gotta use caution with those too.

I love, love, love to burn candles. I burn them every weekend. I like the spicy kind in Autumn and Winter. Yankee pumpkin spice is my all time fav. White Barn use to sell one that was vanilla meringue but they discontinued this summer. I like to burn combos too, like vanilla and cranberry or bayberry and vanilla. During the spring and summer I burn florals. White Barn sweet pea is another favorite.

I love burning candles. I prefer wax candles. Actually, they say this a way to release endorphines, which causes you to be happier.

I am a Rep for a candle company and it is called Diamond Creek Candles. Soy candles are the best. If you light a candle and blow it out, that black build up starts and gets eveywhere when you go to relight it. These candles do not get that black soot on them. They burn evenly all the way to the bottom. The only thing you have is the container left. Please check out my website and you can see what I am talking about. They have these chunks in them that are wonderful! The fragrance goes thru my whole house and it is through out not just on top. www.diamondcreekcandles.com/c111

I love to burn candles. I burn wax candles that usually smell fruity. I don't like the "floral" scent.

I always have candles burning in the evening. I have a large jar candle on the kitchen stove, and a few votives that I alternate in the kitchen also. I have a collection of scents, holders, and candle jar shades. My favorite scents are the spicier scents or citrus. I like Yankees cranberry chutney, pumpkin spice, and sage and citrus. The kitchen is the only place that I burn candles because I don't trust my cat.

I really like candles and I used to burn them all the time, but since I got kittens I haven't used them anymore because I'm afraid they may get knocked over! I always used wax, never ttried the soy ones.

Oh my goodness I love buring candles. I love candles period. I think they make great decorations and some of them really smell wonderful. I want to try making candles but I don't have the money nor the time to do so.

I adore candles - wax candles are my favourite, and I love the ones from Dusk (dusk.com.au), they smell so pretty! I have some wax beads & scents & wicks to make my own, though I haven't yet... eeep.

I love burning candles. I'm very picky about the scents though, because some will literally make me gag. I am quite fond of vanilla, sugar cookie, and a few different types of berry. I burn both wax and soy candles. I prefer soy candles though. I've made my own, it's actually easy. They have kits at AC Moore or other craft stores that you could try. I also just burnt other candles, and used that wax while it's still hot. I got a little mason jar, and a wick then poured in the hot wax. I had different layers of different colors and scents. It looked neat and smelled nice as well. Just mess around with different ways, I'm sure you could also find different craft ideas online somewhere for making your own candles.
