i would rather sit in a restaurant anyday with someone smoking then to sit by someone drinking. lets be honest here if someone has a cigarette and then goes out to drive home they hurt nobody but if someone has been drinking they could wipe out a lot of people. i am so sick of hearing you cant smoke here you cant smoke there but if you so smoke will will take your tax money. but hey go ahead and drink anywhere and we wont tax you and you can kill anyone you like! now please someone tell me whats wrong with this picture. please dont hand me the stuff about you could get sick from second hand smoke wake up you take a chance everyday of getting sick from everything in the world. but you still have a far better chance with a smoker to live than with a drunk on the road. just for the record i dont even smoke. what do you think?

Both are bad habits and I don't do either. Since I don't smoke, it makes me sick to my stomach to be around someone that does. I also have asthma so a person smoking around me causes me to start wheezing. Even when there were dividers between areas, if I were sitting next to the wall that separated us from the smokers, it still affected me. I'm not alone on this either. I don't eat out much, I don't leave the house much, but when I do I shouldn't have to contend with exposure to something that damages my health. My husband use to smoke, he always would go into another part of the house when he did, but it still bothered me. With time I did adjust to it since I was around in all the time. Now he hasn't smoked in 15 years and it bothers both of us. He's amazed at the difference now since he quit. He never believed it actually could bother other people when he smoked, but now he understands. He also says, food taste better and the smells he was missing out on are wonderful. Now he finds every little odor offensive. The kitty litter was in the basement, no where near us. He could still smell it when our cat had used it. Drove me crazy but I'll still get another cat given the chance. He also picks on my dog having an odor the same day I bathe him.

i know smoking is a bad habit and it is really injurious to health . i do smoke occasionally. i do not know why i desire to smoke . and also do not feel that smokers deserve more rights.
smoking , is just like other habits like taking tea/coffee/chewing gum / drinks (hot/cold) . it does not possess any special quality to deserve for more rights

Thank you ! I agree with your post. You hit the nail on the head when you said you take a chance everyday of getting sick from pretty much everything in the world. Nobody ever tries to ban people from driving although I'm quite sure the exhaust from vehicles is just as likely to cause cancer as second hand smoke! I love the way you phrased your discussion and I agree one hundred percent. Of course, I am biased because I AM a smoker.
