Graduating college in 4 years -- Necessary or Not?

Is there anything wrong w/ graduating college in over 4 years? I'm into my 3rd year now & won't be graduating in 4 years even... maybe 4 & a couple quarters. My parents bother me about it all the time & act like I'm not trying hard enough. College when they went to school is NOT how it is now. It is a lot harder than what I imagined & my high school didn't really prepare me for it at all. I struggled to figure it out at first, but every year I've been doing better. I even took a summer quarter last year & now I'm just feeling burnt out. I've told my family its NOT going to be 4 years, but they always bother me about it. I still haven't met 1 senior that's graduating in 4 years flat.

I've been going to college for over 10 years! Of course, I'd been out of high school for ages by the time I started and I haven't gone consistently, so it's a little different. However I will say that I think it's pretty unusual for even a young person fresh out of high school to graduate from college in exactly four years. Most students have at least a semester or two where they don't carry the whole 15 hours, or they have to take a semester off for one reason or another or whatever. It isn't like high school. I'd say four years is minimum for earning a bachelors (even if a few do manage to trim a little off of that), rather than maximum.

For me, college education is neccessary for one to have a great career. Here in the Philippines, it is hard to find a job if you are not a college graduate. Life is tougher when you don't have something like a degree to sell your skills to companies. That's just my point of view. =)
