JULY 21, 2007!!! That's the date to anticipate. It's got a big mark on my calendar. I'm turning 25 years old this year but I am greatly anticipating on all the Harry Potter books. I have completely fallen in love with its story and I admit, I am a big fan! I have all the books in hard bound copy and I am proud to say that even if I am all the way from the Philippines, I purchased one my books from London. Just to say that I at least have one copy which came from Harry's motherland! haha! Are any of you like me? Do you think we're kind of old for this kind of stuff? I never viewed Harry Potter to be for kids! haha! I really think it's for a deeper sense of thinking.
Give me your views. Are you eager to read Deathly Hallows as well? Do you think you're a big fan too?

LOL, I may be biased on my reply that you are not too old to enjoy these books...I'm 41. I am totally hooked. I think that the people who say it is all about witchcraft and satan should actually READ it before they criticize. You are right, the true meaning of the story is much deeper than that! Good talking to you here on myLot!

Thanks for your response. You have a very good point there. Critics should really read it first and read it well before they actually say things they do not know.

You bought one of the 6 books from London?? How i wish you bought one for me too...LOL... If only I could go to LOndon, I would buy my 7th book there and have it signed by JKR herself... :) I am excited to have the 7th book already but July 21 is too far from now. I'm so curious about how the story would end. I wish that Harry won't die in the battle. I think he has a great future at Hogwarts if he'll survive.

I think he will be an auror in the future. Hope JK does not kill Harry and adds an epilogue narrating Harry's life after Hogwarts.

Oh, that will be worse. I helped a small book store in Richmond, Va do a Diagon Alley Party for book 6 and they want to do it again for book 7.
We had shops and costumed characters and the whole lot - it was an amazing night as we waited for the 12:00 release! A friend who is an enormous guy came as Hagrid, my husband was Mr. Olivander (he had a blast fitting wands to people!). I was selling quills and ink and Levitation Feathers and parchment. It was a real blast.

Gosh, I know. The 21st of July is our national (Belgian) holiday, and shops close that day. I'm hoping the big stores in the cities will open that day, but I fear for it. But I'm totally making a trip to France or Holland if there's no other way to get it that day.
Well, I'm turning 19 this year, and I started reading them when I was 11, so they were meant for my age group I guess, I never really wondered if they were only for kids, and I found it only natural to continue reading them even if I grew older. I like reading any good children's literature even now anyway, and I doubt I'll grow out of it.

Thanks for your response. We actually have reservations here in the Philippines so people are really not killing each other on the date of the books realease. National bookstore is one store that accepts reservations. You should read it...it's way way way more exciting than the movie.

Thanks for your response. However, I read in the-leaky-cauldron.com that they wont be releasing an e-book. They are having too much trouble with online piracy with the other books so they are being careful this time. I don't think the will release. Anyhow, the actual book is much better that an e-book right...It's for your future generation to see. haha

I am sooo excited. I LOVE the Harry Potter series, and have lined up previously for books 5 & 6, and can't wait to do it for the final time! I don't think HP is just for kids. I think it's wonderful it's been embraced by so many different age groups - why should reading be restricted? If people enjoy it, then who cares if it's a "kids series". HP is better written than a lot of other "adult" books out there, in my opinion :)
Bring on July 21!!

I'm 22 and am obsessed with Harry Potter. I've read all the books except ( Chamber of Secrets which I just don't like for some reason) at least 4 times each. I'm both eagerly anticipating and dreading the release of the last book. I don't know what I'll do after I'm finished reading it and have nothing to look forward to. The last two books have made me cry so much, I don't know if I can handle 2 more deaths! It's going to be crazy. Isn't the movie being released this summer too?

I even cried once in front of the librarian when i thought that i won't get one issue!!!I dont think anyone's too old for Harry Potter books. For children it might be a trip into a magical world but adults can try and find a deeper meaning to all these books.

I'm older too (24), and love Harry Potter! I want to read the new book, but I'm worried about what happens to Potter in it. I'm sure she will have him die at the end, and that would be sad. I've enjoyed the books so much. They are really the only books I read.

Thanks for your response. I hope Rowling won't be too morbid and kill Harry in the end just for the drama of it. =)

I have never read any of the books. I've seen all of the movies though.
When I wanted to go and see the first movie out, my wife wouldn't go. She said it was a kid's movie. I've seen everyone since. Such imagination. I loved them all!
I can't wait until the next movie comes out.

I have been a Harry Potter fanatic for 8 years now, and I am insanely excited about the final book's arrival! Although I wouldn't say I'm too old for HP (I'm 19), I am definitely a little too obsessed with it. I've been to one Harry Potter convention in Vegas (Lumos), and plan on going to one this summer in Canada (Prophecy). I have a snitch tattoo, I pre-ordered Deathly Hallows and I will probably be at the midnight release at Borders. The Harry Potter series is well written and addictive, and I am proud to be in its fan base! :D
