Favorite Fanfiction

What are some of your favorite works of fanfiction? Ones that make you laugh or cry, or the ones that you just can't get out of your head? Who are the authors that you know are going to write stories you like? Which WIPs do you drop everything to go read the new chapter?

I tend to read based more on author than anything else -- I like a wide range of pairings and ratings, so author is usually my best distinguishing factor! And I think my favorite authors are Aspen and xylodemon, so pretty much anything by either one of them is something I'm guaranteed to love. :D

And the thing I like about reading by author--anything else can be varying quality level. If you search by pairing or rating or genre or length or anything else, you can have fantastic fics, and fantastically bad fics. If you look for fics only by authors you know and like, you are going to find, for the most part, good stuff.

I've actually kind of stopped reading fan fiction. I read what my friends write, and if they recommend something, but I'm reluctant to to try anything new because so much of it is just plain bad. And I don't go to fic archives, I stick with communities on Livejournal. I have a few communities that people I know post to frequently - Fullservicefma, mainly.
