Finishing college in 4 years -- Necessary or not?

My parents seem disappointed by the fact that I'm not going to graduate in 4 years flat. I'm a junior @ a university right now, I've declared my major (history), and have been getting better grades every year.
I started off slow & it took me a while to figure it out -- my high school didn't do a good job preparing us for college. I'm the first one in my immediate (except Mom) & extended family to even be at college like this. I feel like they should just let me finish, but in the end it all comes down to money. They don't want to waste money. I'd rather be taking out my own student loans if its going to mean LESS STRESS.

It's not necessary to graduate in four years! Seriously, it all depends on what you're doing with your degree. It takes some people longer than others to figure out their major and what they want to do with it, after all, and that's natural. Don't be down on yourself about it!
It's a lot harder if there's a money problem, though, you're right.... But you should still do your best and try to finish no matter what, if you can, even if you have to transfer or take out loans. Student loans have low interest anyway. It's so important to have a degree, I think, since your career options expand so much....
Whatever you decide to do, good luck! A good education is worth all the stress and trouble in the long run, I think.

Thanks. Its not really a money "problem" with my parents, they just seem to feel like they are wasting money when I drop a class or something. They've always told me they have money set aside for college, but it just bothers me how that means they have control over what I do when I'M the one here trying to get this degree. Its not easy, but they act like it is.
