What is the point of the computer virus. How does the creator of these anoyances get satisfaction? I have received emails supposeldy from ebay, I dint open it I just deleted and cleared my rubish folder. But the virus that was attached to that email managed to send the link to everyone in my address book. Luckily I didn't have too many contacts and as far as I am aware it didnt do anything else. So what is the point of creating this. Can these skills be used elsewhere? Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated

I don't know which was there first, the Virus or the Firewall, but I think the writers of the virus's just want to show that they are better then the writers of the firewalls and so on. The bad part is only that the virus's can probaly attack everyone, don't know why, maybe someone who's just in the mood to destroy innocent pc's got the code for a virus and made it spread.

I guess there will be that competitive edge that goes on between firewall programmers verse virus programmers. Its a shame it can be destructive to innocent pc's as you say. More recently I have met a brilliant programmer, sometimes off the wall ( I think there may be a fine line between genius and madness) and he can create some interesting software, but at the same time he can't see that his creation could also be used in a destructive way to. It has me perplexed as to a great mind that can't see further.
regards and thanks for your imput
