I have a 2 yr.old that will go to her dresser and pickout her own clothes and dress herself.. and get them on right ,shoes included. I am wondering if anyone has a 2 yr.ol that does that too??? ...My last child is 18 so its been a while for me ...lol but I don't remember her doing that at 2 . My grandson is 8 and he can't get his own clothes and dress himself properly....shirts wrong side out and shoes on the wrong feet ...

My daughter is now 19, but she was able to dress herself at two and potty trained herself as well. I feel very lucky about that.

My niece will select her own clothes, often matching perfectly the clothing she chooses to wear. She will also dress herself. She hasn't mastered getting the shoes on the right feet yet. She has been doing this since she was about 18 months as well. She just turned 3. The kid is as smart as a whip.

LOL, wish I could take some credit for that one. Her parents are very involved in educating her.

My 2yo picks out her clothes, dresses herself and gets her shoes on the right feet...sometimes the clothes do necc. match or are not for the right weather. Sometimes she tries to put her shirt on upside down and or needs help getting her pants over her butt. Sometimes her shoes do not match or are on the wrong feet. But she does it all her self and that makes me very proud!

My son is only 13 months, and he already tries to dress himself. He puts his socks and shoes next to his feet, and tries to cover his head with his shirt. It's really cute!

Our youngest is three and has gotten fully clothed alone for nearly a year. Shortly after turning two I would surmize. I think it depends on the enviornment and how much they are encouraged to do things and do them properly.

My 2 year old will dress himself. He normally doesn't pick out his clothes because if sister usually likes to do that for him. I babysit 2 boys (brothers) that cannot dress or undress themselves. I watch them second shift so they have to get ready for bed. if you tell them to take of teir shirt, or pants, or socks - they just stare at you. Like they don't know how to do it or don't know what those things are. It's really said. Their parents just do these things for them and don't even try to teach them.

Well I dont have a 2 year old but my neice is 2 and is like this. I wonder if its only girls though because I dont remember being like that when I was younger. I think girls just start to mature younger and want do do everything themselfs. Oh well at least its cute.

My two year old can put her shoes on too ... right feet and all. She can dress herself for the most part, but some days she'll say, "Can't do it!" and she won't even try. She puts her socks on a lot of times because her three year old sister can't do it! Actually, I should say, she won't do it! Drives me nuts! LOL!

My son is 21 moths old now and he does not dress himself yet but he does try with some help from me. Recently, he tries to put on his shorts himself and he does like to wear his sister's shoes around the house. Sometimes he gets them on the right foot but sometimes not. Well, practice makes perfect :)

I have a 2 year old grandson and he gets dressed all by himself to.He puts on his own pants, shirt, socks, and shoes, except he cant tie them yet. He also gets his own milk out of the frig and takes the clean dishes out the dishwasher for me. He is a very good helper.

That is wonderful that a 2 year old can dress herself. My daughter didn't start dressing herself until she was around 4 or 5 years old. I think every child is different and they all develope at their own rate as far as walking, talking, potty training, dressing themselves, etc.
