How to get rid of baldness?

I have been having hairfall problems since the beginning of 2006 and the hair density decreased drastically. I have consulted a trichologist and he has suggeted that I have fungal infection in scalp and I need to wash the head everyday with shampoo. I was told to add a solution with Head and Shoulders (smooth and silky) shampoo and use it 5 days a week and use Candid-TV shampoo on Thursdays and Sundays every week. He has also given me a homeopathic pill to be taken everyday. I have been doing this for the last 2 months and in the second visit he told that the infection is 40% gone and I need to further continue for 2 more months. He told once the infection totally goes away, the hair regrowth will start. I am not sure how far it's gonna help me though the hairfall has reduced now. I have also made a short hair cut. Please suggest me if anyone has gone thru such treatment in the past and how much effective this sounds.
