My rats

I have five rats; maikyn, auryn, champagne, sophia and jezebel. Maikyn and Auryn are old - 2.5 years old, while Champagne is 2 and Sophia and Jezebel are 1.5, in the prime of life. Auryn doesn't seem old, but she has a large tumor on her side. I think it's benign, but it's still sad. I hope she's not in any pain, I'd hate to think that she was suffering. Maikyn is old and acts it - she's blind and deaf and her balance is strange - she falls over a lot. She's still very affectionate though, and likes cuddles. Champagne I adopted from a school science lab where she was a class pet, and she's very sociable - she loves people and is always snuggling up with someone. She's the colour of her name, and very very pretty. Jez and Sophia are black and white twins - the only difference is that Jezebel has a stumpy tail. Only the very end is missing though, and she doesn't seem to miss it. they are inseparable, and pine if you try to separate them. Does anyone else have rats? What are your thoughts about rats as pets?
