Catch a falling star

Hi gina :) I started with a 9 and after a few days got a nice cute little 10 star - I was pretty happy - but my happiness was short lived because it dropped back down to a 9 about 2 days later and hasn't gone up since then. I was hurt at first because I think I know who caused it to drop and I thought it was petty since it was just a respectful difference of opinions but apparently she was hurt that I didn't agree with her like everyone else. Oh well. Now I just post my honest views, opinions and advice and if someone gets upset by it - then so be it. I'd like to think for the most part that people around here are adults and can handle views different than theirs. Good luck in getting your 10 back. :)

A falling star? That's new to me. I have been maintaining my 9 star since the day mylot awarded it to me. I am more interested to see the star number rating changed. I have moved from 92/100 to 95/100 now. I think this has more meaning than the star itself.

I think myLot should investigate why minus ratings are given and remove them if they were not deserved. Well, you have just posted a good topic so I am going to give you a plus to help restore your star. It never occurred to me that people might give a negative because they were jealous. I thought myLot was a place where we could all be friends and help each other. I will check your other discussions and see if I can post a response before the dinner burns (I started cooking it an hour ago).

Well, when I became a 10, exactly the same thing happened to me! I remember reading here once, that some people go around purposely neg rating 10 people, because they don't like to see people rated so highly!!! Petty huh!? I pretty quickly went back up again, and I'm sure you will too, though my points in my 10 fell yesterday, which means I guess I got a few Negs. too! As for coming to get them - you go girl!!!

I started at an 8. I hope mine doesn't go down or I may never be able to get it back up there again. LOL!

I'm sorry for the loss of your star rating. The fact that you were happy should be of no reason for someone to be jealous and mark you negatively. I know that their are those that abuse that power of the rating system, but the rating system should be used according to mylot guidlelines only, not out of jealousy, differing opinions, or simply not like a particular mylotter/mylotian. I hope that you get your star back up quickly. I rated your discussion a + hope that is a good start towards getting you back up there. Good luck to you here at mylot!

Hey, 9 stars aren't that bad, I just got mine a couple of days ago! Your reputation may have dropped as a result of some silly people that gave you a - for no reason, or for the reason of jealousy. I'm sure you will get it back in no time! :)

The same thing happened to me. I was answering questions on my sisters post about child support and because iwas backing her up all the people on there seemed to have gave me a negative. I was at 76 and now i am at 61. Sometimes people do it just to pop your bubble or because they do not agree with your viewpoint. i personally do not like the star system. People use it to retaliate against each other

Gee, I have never had a 10 rating, so I have no idea what you have to do to get it. I did not give you a negative rating, and can't believe the pettiness of people to want to give you a - rating to bring you down. That is just down right nasty. I would not worry about it if I were you. I am just happy to get some responses to my questions. I have never had a 10, I have always been a plain old 9.

its so well that you spoke.. i like it..its been said that when you are too generous and polite with people they take your advantage...keep that spirit up, even i want you to behave in the same way to others how they behaved with you..

yah its definitely nice getting those ratings and stars , and know what?? it even enhance your earning , as i have tried it...so just keep getting stars and enjoy your earning...

i am a happy person, too and i always talk about how happy my life and lovelife is and share it in this site (ofcourse-depends on the topic as well). but there are people (just a minority of them) gets jealous in a way and looks at you the other way around. i am not sure if they give me negative ratings or not. but still, i kept on going. and i am not sorry for feeling happy and proud of who i am. people might not like me but that's life. we can't please everybody even if we have given our best shot already. you don't have to apologize about being a happy person. it's nice to be a happy person than be a bitter one. go on and do what you are doing. i have seen most of your posts (discussions and responses) and i see you are a nice person. keep it up. as for me, i don't mind much about my star. it never fell and it never went up. it's always on a 9 (but my reputation plays from 91/100 to 92/100 all the time). so, don't mind much about the star. just keep on going!

actually, I dont know how these stars come from or why they change, I got nine stars when this system begin, and its still nine stars, I guess it doesnt make much difference whether you have nine or ten. ten stars looks perfect, but nine is OK, just forget it. Have a good day.

How did you do that? Is there any any trick there. Actually , I am not jealouse. I feel happy for you. and also sad for your falling star. if you have some good idea, please be generous to share with us, just like sharing your happiness with us.

I'm sorry hear that, but actually I also get the same problem with you, but what can we do, I'm just hoping my star and rating would not fall again, so I just posting and posting more and more , again and again, I think that only we could do right now.

I suggest you just dont take your stars too seriously. Its been a common problem here in mylot. I know its sucks coz you didnt do anything wrong but some people just dont care about it and remark everyone with negative even if they dont deserve it. Just enjoy mylot!
