It can be said that most movies made from games suck royally, due in no small part to the misdirection of Uwe Boll. However, some do well enough. What's your favorite video game based movie and why? Did you like the game the movie was based on?
Mine is the Resident Evil movies. I enjoyed those a lot. Didn't care much for the games though.

I really liked the Silent Hill adaptation. While it wasn't near as horrifying as playing the game tends to be, I thought the writer did a great job capturing the creepiness of the game. The acting wasn't bad either, which I think makes all the difference, and like Resident Evil, I think they had a good budget.
I used to like the resident evil games, but after the second one, we got bored with them. The movies are great though.

I never played Silent Hill, but I enjoyed the movie. I didn't really expect to, either, since I was familiar with Res. Evil and disliked the movies.
Silent Hill the movie was pretty scary for me; I'd hate to see the game now! ;)

i do believe that most movies made from games suck 'royally',
mainly because when these movies are made, they stray away from the game completely and don't stay true to it.
They change the plot completely when most gameplots are better than many screenplays out there.
i did enjoy the first person shooter mode at the end of doom,
but my favorite game movie has to be silent hill, it felt like a silent hill game, the environment was perfect, the costumes were perfect, even the actors had that silent hill character characteristic and the story also felt like silent hill.

I'd like to see the silent hill movie. I've heard nothing but good things about it.
I've heard that the rights to a Halo movie have been bought, and someone's making a Metal Gear Solid movie, and I think someone's making a Metroid movie too. What say y'all?

After reading the Resident Evil books, I didn't like the movies so much.
I did like the Silent Hill Movie.
The lamest video game movie is the one about the people that go to the island for a rave or something like that and it's infested with Zombies. The acting is horrible. I wish I could remember the name.

Who liked Advent Children? Was it because it was a good movie, or because it has FF7 in the title?

The only ones I can remember are Mortal combat and Resident evil. The first mortal combat was decent, didn't care for the sequel though. Resident evil was pretty good. Oh wait, there was Mario Brothers, wonder why I couldn't remember that? Oh yea, I didn't wanna remember it. Thanks for reminding me. AAAARG.

I actually liked the Mario movie. It was nothing like the game, but it had entertainment value. Granted, the last time I saw it, I was six...

I liked Super Mario Bros. the movie because I had a huge crush on Bob Hoskins since Who Framed Roger Rabbit?. Now that I am in my late 20s, I still find him attractive, but the movie not so much.

The only movie derived from a video game I appreciated was that of Silent Hill. They actually did good in giving the audience a fair share of chills and scare they asked for.
