A magnetron or micro-wave furnace is a type furnace in which can heated with micro-wave radiation food or cooked. The Netherlands is probably the only country where the furnace is called to the internal component that micro-wave radiation arouses (the magnetron). In the rest of the world (including Flanders) the name has been based on the functioning of the furnace, the micro-waves. Since approximately 1980 the magnetron has belonged to the standaardinventaris of a kitchen. A magnetron can, however, be considered as an exponent of the jachtige existence at the end of the twentieth and beginning of the eenentwintigste century, where by many little time is put in fixing a meal.
