about whether they screw their employers (and half the time they aren't even qualitfied for the job) always manage to find these great jobs with great pay then leave them for something better when I can't even get a call back on the 20 resumes I've send out last week and I have 20 years of experience in my field????

Good question. I've wondered that myself. I think it just my perception of the person. I had someone working with me that I really wanted to get rid of. Then it dawned on me that, because I had been covering up for them, they were getting all the credit. So I just stopped, they got found out, and did lose the job. But until someone does something like that they get the free ride and the great jobs.

well, my father used to call it "overqualified". He had a great paying job until they let everyone go one year. he went from 40$ an hour, to a minimum wage job, because there was literally no one that would hire him, in his early 40's. I remember all the thousands of resumes he pumped out back in the early 90's. It was sad, and the one thing I learned, is you build yourself up in your 20's, and hope for the best in your 30's, and better have an entreprenueral type plan in the 40's, because employers just aren't like they used to be. that's just my take on it.

that happened to my dad too- I hated to see him go through that, I hope that doesn't happen to me, I'm 42 now...yikes that is scary.

Awww. That's bad. Maybe your resume needs some updating? Certainly here in the UK, they have changed the way the look at CVs nowadays, and there are even classes run to help people write theirs correctly, and in the "new style". You have to sell yourslf much more now, rather than just concentrate on your educational qualifications, or actual work experience. I must admit I've always been a job skipper, and I think part of the reason for my successes in the past, was that I didn't much care at the interview stage (LOL!), so I never came over tense or nervous. Good Luck though - I'm sure you'll find the right job soon. My friend in the States (in Cincinnatti) tried for 5 months to get a new job, and she was getting really depressed, but she has a new one now, and she loves it!
