part time jobs

I m in dilemma to do the part time job or not.I want to earn some money for my personal expenses.Also to increase my articulation skills and personality development,My parents refuse to do it as they say it will affect my studies.I m an engineering student and grown enough to do the job.
Kindly send your views that help me out.
