Hi Guys
Before you start taking steroids for what ever reason! Please think again! Please read my story.. Please dont go what I have been through over the years.
Since I was 25years of age, different Doctors over here in the UK have put steroids into my for various conditions with a prob that went back to childhood.
Before they started me on steroids I was a mere 8 stone 6lbs! Not very heavy! Very athletic in every which way. Was difficult to keep up with lol Always my parents ans brother would be shouting at me!!! Slow Down!! I was into swimming Ice-skatting (Speed-skatting) and horse-riding and had my own horse being very competitive.
Now I am 44 years of age, eating a healthy diet, but due to the years of steroids, my weight has rocketed up out of controle to a whopping 20 stone, now leaving me almost crippled with athritis and breathing problems. I have tried various health clubs, followed various plans and nothing seems to have worked!
The only thing is! Now they have finally stopped the steroids! My weight has not altered! But the clinic nurse has warned me I may never get the weight down as the steroids has left a longterm effect of damage to my muscles
I am writing this in hope that it stops someone else going through what I am now! If it saves someone else then it is worth me putting this here.

I am sorry to hear that this has happened to you. I have a close friend with similar long term health problems, but they are a result of her asthma medication. I'm not sure if they were steroids or not, but they damaged her bones.
It is a real shame hat you do as you are told by the professionals and then you pay for it the rest of your life. I hope you are able to get to Ternerife, I think the climate would do you a world of good!

Some of the meds have been for asthma. Yes they have been steroid based. I too am experiencing bone damage that had lead to the Ostioparosis.
Tenerife has a lovely climate,, and yes things will be wonderful when I finally get out there.
Sorry to see that your friend is having simular trouble to myself

Thanks for the comments, I have just found an old photo prior to the weight gain due to the meds, Because I could not get it to post into this discussion, I have started a fresh one so I could place the pic in question
My aim is to try save others from going through what I am now.

Thats actually a really interesting point. Even though I disagree with the use of steroids, except for medical use.
However, even though steroids can make a person the ultimate being (in some sense), the long term effects of using steroids would cause the armed forces to eventually lose those individuals anyway!
Perhaps,........the governments responsible for their armed forces actually care for their recruits (what a nice thought!).
But.....I wouldn't be surprised if individuals in the armed forces use steroids....even without the military knowing!
