Can the car insurance company tell how long I've had my license for?

I remember a year ago or so, I had a policy with a car insurance company. When I went to change my policy because I had sold the care that was under the current policy, I found out that the car insurance company mistakenly thought that I had my license for 3 years, when I actually only had it for 1 year. Now I'm about to change my insurance again and I want to know if they can actually tell how long I've had my license for, aside from the fact that my current state license says it was issued 2 years ago. Can they tell if I was licensed in another state? Do they even check? The company that made the mistake with my last policy never called me or even mentioned the fact that the information was incorrect, which leads me to believe that they don't verify that info.

Yes, they do. Insurance companies do credit checks and run a motor vehicle report.
