Get Offline And Get A Life!

You obviously have no life if you spend all this time on internet forums. You're being an idiot if you're wasting all you're time trying to earn money here!
How often have you heard that? I hear it quite a lot, whenever I mention that I spend a large portion of the day online. People assume that I don't have 'a life'. I've never understood that. Of course I have a life - it involves being online a lot. My work involves a lot of online research and a lot of networking online. I live in an isolated area so I do my shopping and my correspondence online.
Yes, I spend a lot of time online. And I spend a good chunk of it here, at Mylot. I like it here. I've got friends here. I've made some amazing friends here. I like talking with them. I like browsing discussions - sometimes I get inspiration.
When I'm not online, I'm either running my household or taking part in one of my many hobbies. I manage my time well and allow myself plenty of time to do everything I both want and need to do. Barring those nasty surprise visits to the hospital that like to crop up at importune times.
So to all those who tell me I need to get a life, I have one. One I enjoy very much. And one, I might add, that doesn't involve telling other random strangers online to get one of their own.

KUdos to you. Dont let people get you down. They dont have a life if all they can do is knock and judge others and what they do. I am the same way and I have to be online a lot, and this helps pass the time as well as give me advice and a way to chat with new friends!

It'd be an ironic response considering that you would have just been told to get a life in the first place.

Since you are OK with it, then no one has the right to impose their own way of life on you. Since you can manage your time, and there's no addiction of being online, then you are OK. Everyone has the right to live the way they want and if spending time online is part of it, then let it be. But one should never forget his real life and to interact with real people (face to face) or it may have bad consequences.

We all have our own definetion of "life" yours is great, you love what you do and you continue to do it ...
I too love my life and I am here more and more these days ..I 'm not looking to get rich ...lol
Besides its cold outside to do much else right now when spring comes that will be a different story for me ..I hope you continue to enjoy your "life"... people can be stupid sometimes when it comes to judging others ...ah well , narrow minded I believe ...

Once again, they're not ones to judge but neither are we. Replying that same sentence would be, if my French to English translation is correct, 'going as low as them.' By this I mean it's just being as moronic as they are by doing that.

Wow, I was surprised when I first started reading this post lol.Yeah, I hear that sometimes. But if you do online work such as writing, what do people expect you to do? It'd probably surprise them if you said back to them "You spend too much time at the office, get a life!"

I like spending some time chatting on here, partially because I moved recently and don't have many friends here to go hang out with, and my husband is away working at camp a lot. It's not my whole life, I have a job and several other hobbies, but there's nothing wrong with spending time on internet forums! I like being able to come on here and chat with people I sort of know when I'm home alone and feeling bored or lonely.

I know what you mean. My friends and family think i need a life and need to get out more. I have high speed internet and basic cable. I rarely need to go out. If I need food I can have iot delivered or walk across the street to the store. Other then that, why would I realy want to leave the apartment? Maybe they are the one's that need to get alife and stop trying to run mine? I wonder if they ever thought of that. P.S I know they are just trying to help and they care about me, so most of that was just joking.

I am lucky not to hear it. My dogs are very understanding so is my cat. If you know how to balance real life and online "life", there is no limit on both.

Oh dear! Boy do I ever identify with this one. There are plenty of people who haven't completely embraced the concept of the internet as a means of commerce, communication and entertainment. I even had a counselor once tell me that if you spend more than an hour a day on the computer you should cut back. Needless to say, I am no longer talking to him! I think it's like anything else in life -- those who don't understand it often find it easier to ridicule those who do than to try to understand them.

Hahaha I actually answered one question where the person asked why we posted so much for so little.
The first answer was quite hillarious for me. Let me find the link for you. It was the first answer OK?

see how people think we spend our life here for nothing. true that myLot pays little, but it does pay something. And there are some good discussions and friends to meet here. Isn't that a part of life too?

Since we're on topic of getting a life, I hate it when people think that partying and getting drunk on the weekends is a "life". Get real, people. And you're right, misskatonic. If we're on the computer especially if it pertains to your job, it's hard to stay away from the computer since it takes up most of your day! I'd rather post in forums and get paid for it rather than stay outta trouble.

GASP!
People are nutty, that is forsure! my whole life revolves around messages, videos, calls, etc on the computer, and I would seriously be lost without it!When people want to communicate with me, I insist they do it on line. They want to think thatit is strange that I do not have a "REAL PHONE" But, I guess they do notrealize that you can use skype for free on the internet! and, what would I rather pay? my internet bill, or myphone bill? since I have the broadband, it is truly an essential part of me, and my hubby's life, so easy choise for me!

When I think of pathetic people on internet forums, I think of teenage losers on some gaming website who use words like "haX0r" and "l33t." Making money on a forum is different.
But if you spend all your time here, forget to bathe, slowly lose all your friends...then you may need a life.

For me it is true, I don't have a life. I do spend a lot of time online doing things like this to earn money. I usually make enough to clear the bills. I don't have very many bills though and I'm lucky that way. I quit my job and moved home. I have dubed myself the basement troll. So in my case I guess it would be true about having no life.

Well, my job now is drawing comissions, so I sepnd a lot of time on the PC, thus relatively since the net is on, I stay online.
However recently I have started teaching English, and have been getting out more.

MissK, I am so sorry if someone had the brass hooters to tell you that. You don't deserve it and shame on them for not getting to know you better before spouting off. You are most truly one of a kind (sometimes a bit mouthy, but goodness knows, that's what I love about you!). You say so often what "common" politeness and decency prevent me from saying. In a common world, you are anything but that; and I admire you for that reason ~Donna

I hear that a lot. When I'm online, I'm either enjoying myself by relaxing, or I'm 'working'. That means I'm either here on Mylot posting so I can earn some extra cash or I'm either doing some freelance writing so I can earn the bulk of my income.
